Below is a video of me beginning to learn to play the song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, on the ukulele. In the video, I am playing each chord from the song once, in order, using the strumming pattern: DDU UDU.
I needed to learn to play the chorus twice (C, Em, F, C, F, C, G, Am, F), and then the verse twice (C, G, Am, F). In the actual song, you play each chord twice as you go through the song but in this video, I only played each chord once because I was still learning.
I knew many of the chords for this new song from the previous songs I learned, but I still had to learn the new chord Em for this song. I found Em harder to learn because it required a finger position that I wasn’t used to and it was tricky to play the chord without it sounding “off”. I found it very exciting when I would play the Em chord correctly while I was practicing.
