Heading into this week’s classes, I had no idea what Open Education Resources were. I learned about copyright in high school, and thought that you weren’t able to use other people’s work. After this week, my eyes are open to so many new topics like fair trade, public domain, creative commons, and so many others.
During the group activity, the group I was in researched multimedia like photos, videos, and music that could be reused by others for free. We thought that it would be a great idea to utilize these types of resources in blogs, assignments, powerpoints, and youtube videos. As a teacher, these will be fantastic resources to be used; all you have to do is site where the media is from.
Here is a list of Reusable Multimedia:

Here are some important things I took away from this week’s classes:
- Open Educational Resources are free and accessible texts, multimedia, and educational resources that are helpful for teaching and learning.
- OER can be legally used by anyone to repurpose, improve, and reuse.
- OER can be coursework, video, music, images, and text.
- Copyright applies to all works created, but fair dealing guidelines allow for the use of some copyrighted material with some limitations.
